Everyone’s life is unique and often with complexities. Humans are complicated. For me it is a privilege to sit with clients in a space to unravel and explore with curiosity and compassion, their experiences. Therapy sessions with me give people the opportunity to tune into their stories and themselves, to identify ways to live with authenticity and acceptance, so that they may feel lighter and live with greater ease.

Frequently asked questions

+ How does therapy with dr. Lucy Tinning work?

You do not need a referral from a GP to book therapy. If this is your first session with Lucy then it is useful to have a complementary 15 minute consultation chat on the phone so that she can get a sense of how you are doing and find out more about your reason for seeking therapy. If you both agree that therapy with Lucy would be supportive to you then Lucy will schedule an appointment for you at her clinic, The Garden Practice in Leipzig.

+ how many therapy sessions will I need and how frequently will I need them?

It is not possible to say how many sessions you might need without having an initial assessment first. The length of time you will need to engage with therapy sessions depends on many factors including your experiences and difficulties, your goals for therapy and the extent to which you can engage in regular sessions. Life events which may not be anticipated can also influence the work, goals and regularity of your therapy sessions.

Typically Lucy suggests committing to six weekly sessions at which point you can review the work and make plans to continue, take a break or stop. Pace of therapy sessions, like the number of sessions required, is also influenced by the same factors. In the first instance, Lucy recommends committing to six weekly sessions at which point you can both review the work and and pace of sessions. It is not unusual for some clients to taper the sessions to once every two weeks depending on how they are feeling.

+ How does Psychological Therapy work with chronic pain?

Chronic pain is complex and requires flexibility in the methods used to treat it. Lucy therefore employs a number of different techniques from a variety of evidence based psychological models of therapy. Lucy draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing and, very importantly, relaxation techniques including breath-work.

+ What if I don't live in Germany?

If you live outside of Leipzig, Germany or are likely to be travelling a lot, Lucy is able to offer online therapy sessions via Zoom.
