Online Psychological Therapy

Everyone’s life is unique and often with complexities. Humans are complicated. For me it is a privilege to sit with clients in a space to unravel and explore with curiosity and compassion, their experiences. Therapy sessions with me give people the opportunity to tune into their stories and themselves, to identify ways to live with authenticity and acceptance, so that they may feel lighter and live with greater ease.

Choosing to start therapy

can be a daunting prospect but working collaboratively with a therapist to support you on your journey to recovery can bring about transformative change.

Lucy understands that not everyone is able to attend regular therapy sessions in person, in Leipzig, which is why she has set up online therapy sessions via Zoom so that you can have discreet, confidential face-to-face therapy sessions with Lucy from the comfort of your own home, or on the go, no matter where you may be in the world.

Lucy can help with

a wide range of difficulties including:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Relationship problems

  • Grief and loss

  • Unresolved early childhood experiences

  • Anger

  • Diagnosis of illness and living with chronic illness and pain

  • Perinatal and postnatal difficulties for mothers-to-be and mothers

  • Adjustment to becoming a parent

  • Difficulties related to other significant transitions such as international relocation and living as an expatriate.

You can find out more information about the mental difficulties Lucy can help you with here.

If you experience severe and enduring mental health problems such that ongoing psychological and psychiatric support is necessary, online therapy is probably not suitable. It is strongly advised that you find a therapist close to your location and accessing care regularly and in person.

frequently asked questions

+ How does online therapy with Dr. Lucy Tinning work?

You do not need a referral from a GP to book online therapy. If this is your first session with Lucy then it is useful to have a complementary 15 minute consultation chat on the phone, so that she can get a sense of how you are doing and find out more about your reason for seeking therapy. If you both agree that therapy with Lucy would be supportive to you then Lucy will schedule an appointment time to meet via video-conferencing platform, Zoom. Lucy will provide instructions on how to set this up and you will have “face-to-face” video calls.

It is possible to have online therapy from anywhere in the world but this will to have be within the European Central Time hours of 9am and 5pm.

You will need a reliable internet connection and the ability to locate yourself somewhere private and quiet during these sessions so that you are not disturbed and can focus fully on the session.

+ Will my insurance cover the fees?

Within Germany Lucy’s fees are not covered by German public health insurance “die Krankenkasse”. Within and outside of Germany it is possible that some private insurance companies will reimburse clients for their treatment but this is something you should check with your insurance company before starting therapy with Lucy.

+ how many therapy sessions will I need and how frequently will I need them?

It is not possible to say how many sessions you might need without having an initial assessment first. The length of time people engage with therapy sessions depends on many factors including their experiences and difficulties, their goals for therapy and the extent to which they can engage in regular sessions. Life events which may not be anticipated can also influence the work, goals and regularity of therapy sessions.

Typically Lucy suggests committing to six weekly sessions at which point you can review the work and make plans to continue, take a break or stop. The pace of therapy sessions, like the number of sessions required, is also influenced by your experiences and difficulties, your goals for therapy and the extent to which you are able to engage in regular sessions. In the first instance, Lucy recommends committing to six weekly sessions at which point you can both review the work and and pace of sessions. It is not unusual for some clients to taper the sessions to once every two weeks depending on how they are feeling.
